Parent Comments: "I found it helpful to try to anticipate future needs and include them in the IEP just in case. This way you don't have to call a meeting to get the IEP changed. For example, our vision service will pay for camps and extra-curricular activities that support the Expanded Core Curriculum. At the time of our meetings there isn't always something specific to sign up for, but since it is written in the IEP we are able to sign up for them when they come up through the year. I would recommend being as knowledgeable as you can about what services are available through the school and your vision service provider. We are very blessed here, in that they bring things to me that I wasn't aware of, but there are many places that don't do that. Knowledge is the best way to advocate for your child."
